December 2, 2002, Shanghai, a section of the Qingming Shanghe Tu. The Jin-Tang-Song-Yuan Dynasty Painting and Calligraphy National Treasures Exhibition opened at the Shanghai Museum on December 1. Organized jointly by the Palace Museum in Beijing, the Liaoning Provincial Museum, and the Shanghai Museum, this exhibition of Jin-Tang-Song-Yuan Dynasty painting and calligraphy national treasures is the first of its kind since the founding of the People's Republic of China. Among the exhibits, 28 treasures from the Palace Museum are being displayed outside the museum for the first time, while 18 pieces from the Liaoning Provincial Museum are also among its most prized possessions. Although some of the 32 pieces from the Shanghai Museum have been exhibited before, this is the first time they have been displayed together in such a concentrated manner. The exhibition has attracted numerous experts from the art world both domestically and internationally. They have come not only to appreciate the value of these national treasures but also to gain insights into the domestic market for antique art and calligraphy.
