Huang Zongxi (1610-1695), courtesy name Taichong, sobriquet Lizhou, also known as Debing, was a scholar of classics, historian, thinker, geographer, astronomer, mathematician, and educator of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. He was the eldest son of Huang Zunsu, one of the Seven Gentlemen of Donglin. He is considered the father of Chinese enlightenment thought, proposing the democratic idea of "the world as the master, the ruler as the guest." His representative work is *Mingyi Daifanglu*
